Why can’t I take food or hot drinks into the auditorium?

Generally, it is okay to take cold drinks and confectionery into the auditorium, but glass, crockery, hot food or hot drinks are not permitted. The rules are based on consideration for other people (smell of hot food) or for safety reasons, and sometimes it is at the request of the artist. For some live shows, an alcoholic drink may be taken in at the start, but cannot be replenished during the event, again, for the consideration of those around you.

At some shows, particularly music gigs, the tops must be removed from plastic drink bottles before admission or fully decanted from the bottle they were purchased in; this is to reduce the risk of them becoming rolling trip hazards, or used as missiles.

Look out for notices on our in-house screens and do ask a member of staff working on the night for advice.
